The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying
a book to read, read again and study
.
The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying is widely regarded as one of the most complete and authoritative presentations of the Tibetan Buddhist teachings. A manual for life and death and a source of sacred inspiration from the heart of the Tibetan tradition, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying (TBLD) by Sogyal Rinpoche provides a lucid and inspiring introduction to the practice of meditation, to the nature of mind, to karma and rebirth, to compassionate love and care for the dying, and to the trials and rewards of the spiritual path. Continually reprinted in many languages, it has already been read by hundreds of thousands of people around the world; in 2022, TBLD celebrated the thirtieth anniversary of its very first edition.

A new course is on our schedule for fall 2023: TBLD, a book to read, reread and study. Its first four sessions will be held next November and December, with the others to follow from January 2024. Throughout the sessions, we will explore the main themes of the TBLD, emphasizing meditation, compassion, devotion and the nature of mind… while taking time to become familiar with some of the practices related to these themes: theory and practice approached in parallel, in a relevant whole.
This course is for a wide, diverse audience, interested and curious people who may have never read TBLD but want to learn more about meditation and even beyond in the context of Tibetan Buddhist teachings, to others who have perhaps already read it once and who wish to reread it attentively, this time accompanied by experienced guides, or to others who, through their multiple re-reading, seek to deepen their understanding of the teachings of the Buddha… TBLD, a book to read, reread and study: study more and more to understand more and more.
